Document tags tell screen readers and other assistive technologies on how to interpret the document's content and determine the reading order of its pages. Sometimes a readable or searchable PDF is not in the proper reading order and assistive technologies 'read' the PDF content out of order by jumping around areas of a page or between pages in an illogical manner. Doing so can be confusing. Adobe Acrobat Pro allows you to update and adjust the reading order of tagged PDFs.
Most applications have multiple ways to convert a source document to a PDF document. The resulting PDF documents may be tagged incorrectly, converted with custom tags, or have no tags at all, and you will have to update them manually.
To view the Tags Tree, open the Tags Panel.
